No and I wish I lived in oklahoma so I could go in. We used to go to an old TB hospital here in Kansas City before it was torn down. Cool pics.
I went over to the dark side, but just to pick up a few things.

Okay, that's totally going on my to-do list. Is it still around and abandoned?
RE: Tuberculosis sanitorium in Talihina
I haven't been there in about 2 years, but as far as I know it's still there. It's on the site of a Veterans Colony (whatever that is) but the main building is away from the rest of the buildings.

Has anybody thought about this for awhile? It could be done in a day though, about a 4 hour drive to get there, leave early in the morning and get back late in the evening, that way no one would miss work or school.

That does look pretty bad ass and creepy.
RE: Tuberculosis sanitorium in Talihina
I was looking this up yesterday and back in '99 or '00 they were wanting to turn this whole facility into a Veterans Hospital. From what it sounds like though, there are several buildings and there's a good chance that this plan never went into action.

i talked to the lady at the talihina chamber of commerce and she said it's owned by the choctaw nation and there's also a building owned by the veterans - so maybe there are two old places?
RE: Tuberculosis sanitorium in Talihina
There's two hospitals in Talihina that I found and I have numbers for them, I just don't know if they're abandoned. Did she say or know if either were?

i understood that the one owned by the choctaws is and the other one i'm not sure about - she kinda acted like they both were because she was confused as to which building i meant.

There are two old buildings that comprised the sanitorium, on the grounds of the Veterans' Colony. There is also an Indian hospital about a mile or two down the road from the old TB hospital, the Indian hospital is very old but still in operation.

The main building is easily visible. The road makes a sweeping curve around this building, which is on the west side of this aerial photograph. The other building is on the far left edge of the photo. Zoom out for a better view of the entire colony. To get there, take OK 1/63 to the east side of Talihina and go about a mile west. Turn right (north) on OK 63A and head right where the road splits. The left fork goes to the indian hospital, the road to the right goes to the sanitorium. You can't miss the building, it sits on top of a hill to the west of the highway, looming over the valley below.

RE: Tuberculosis sanitorium in Talihina
here's the scoop. i was on the phone all afternoon, so i know this information to be true and correct. first i was told by the chamber that the choctaw nation owned it and i talked to them and finally learned that it is actually owned by Indian Health Services which is a government agency. the person i spoke with told me that the "old hospital" and the TB sanitarium are the same thing, that it was originally a sanitarium, then they made it into a hospital, then they built a new hospital so it sits empty. it has been pretty much stripped inside - asbestos and all. however, there is also a building on the veteran's land and i think that is something different entirely. the man i spoke to said that the indians would like to own the property the sanitarium is on, but at this time they do not. there is a person that oversees it, but the actual legal owners are Indian Health Services. Just in case you wanted to know . They also said there is regular security there.
