Re: CAVES
Slovakia and Slovenia have some excellent karst, and instead of rivers they got mountains. Definitely places to be if you like caves!

Laying out on the clothing optional beaches of the Mediterranean?PANIC! on the Titanic wrote:It's been a trip for sure. Constantly moving around all the time gets old, as does the constant cold and gray misery that is central/eastern Europe. BUT...we're in a sunnier place now.

I wish. Had to settle for tourist free volcanic beaches instead.

RE: CAVES
Does anyone have the current info for the owner of Roubidoux? I'd also be interested in seeing a map, if anyone has access to one. I try not to just blindly walk into caves, even if they are well known.

Re: CAVES
I would say the majority of it is either walking or hands and knees crawling/stooping. The worst part by far is the meatgrinder passage, a small stomach crawl through a few inches of water with chert cobbles and jagged walls/ceiling that turns exposed skin into hamburger.Eagle90 wrote:Wow, that's a long cave. How much of it is crawling or laying down pulling and pushing yourself forward? Crawling I might could handle but the belly pulling gives me the heeby jeebies.....
Other than that, the cave is great! Mud Alley makes sure you are caked with peanut buttery clay and the subsequent sphincter cleans you off on the way through. What a fantastic cave!
RE: CAVES
Yeah, no thanks on that part of it then. I don't like to think I'm claustrophobic but I ain't too proud to admit it either. I can handle small spaces if I know I can get out but not something like that where I might get stuck. You can keep that stuff.....
RE: CAVES
I can tell you the owners of piquet cave will not let anyone in and are docks about it, I've snuck in and been back quite a ways but there are new owners since around 5 years ago and they are on it. But I Live Just Down THE Road FROM THERE AND CaN Point Out Some GOOD Spots If Anyone Is Out Towards Dixon or Waynesville

Bumping this up to see if anyone would be willing or able to share information about Roubidoux cave with me! Especially contact info? Very new to this community. I'm big on leave no trace, I bring trash bags on my hikes to clean things up, and I'm not an asshole.

Maybe they're just putting that out there so you and Sub don't stick a thumb in them...PANIC! on the Titanic wrote:You get outta here with that attitude!intrepid-elephant wrote:I'm not an asshole.
More online investigation than onsite exploration these days.
