Re: Vacant St. Louis Schools
hey, I've driven past the old Cleveland building on Louisiana a few times in the past week, and it looks pretty sweet. has anybody gotten any photos. I wouldn't mind taking a look around there sometime.

Delmar HS is a windowless, featureless building from the outside. As such, I haven't bothered to try to enter it yet, since there would be minimal light inside.
Re: RE: Vacant St. Louis Schools
Yeah, that's kind of what I figured. I did find out that if and when the Loop Trolley gets going, they'll convert it into something having to do with the Trolley. So I guess not all hope is lost.SubLunar wrote:Delmar HS is a windowless, featureless building from the outside. Wellston HS... it's all boarded up and near a police station but... some of the upper windows have been knocked out. That's all I looked at.
Man, I was so sad about the condition of Wellston in general. That place has gone to hell.
RE: Vacant St. Louis Schools
Wellston HS is an interesting looking one. Redox told me about it a while back and I've been meaning to go.
Re: Vacant St. Louis Schools
I'm too lazy to look, is this one on your vacant schools list?

Just a FYI, that is not a police station By Wellston I am pretty sure that it is a police and fire department training facility. I know that they use the building and fields to do training exercises monthly. (I drive by that school daily) they have lights running inside the building on some nights as well.

Hit up this easily recognized school recently. I would have loved to have seen it when it was in good shape, it is a gorgeous building. Clearly, there were people coming in and out pretty regularly from all the food/drink remains I saw scattered around. Lots of neat stuff in this area.

Noticed today, that Sherman has a for sale sign on it. It looks well cared for and alarmed though. And the neighbors are the type to call the cops if they see stuff going down.
By cared for, I mean the lawn is mowed, there's no paint graffiti on the outside (only chalk graffiti), and there are shiny new locks on all the gates.

St Mark's. Talked to one of the neighbors, who is living in the apartments across the street that the nuns/teachers previously resided in. He tried to convince me to rehab it, then said that he would keep watch while I was inside. Super nice fella, and a really beautiful building. Too bad all the staircases had been ripped out, so I had to get creative.
RE: Vacant St. Louis Schools
By creative, what means you? I don't believe there's any way up now that the stairs are gone. If there is a way, I'd go back.

RE: Vacant St. Louis Schools
To get to the first floor from the basement, I had to pile up tile and chunks of cement, then put a big barrel on top of it. I was able to precariously climb up from that contraption. To get up to the second floor isn't something that I wanted to try alone as it was MUCH higher with not much to brace yourself against besides the few-inch-wide skeletal remains of the former staircase:/
