Popping back in a bit.
Hey people, long time no see. just thought I'd give you all a heads up, the sunlight of Jordan creek tunnels will start in 2012, so enjoy them now.
I am going to try to keep my nose in here more often, but things are really busy for me now.
To those who remember me... damn you are old....

Hey Dawg, it has been a while buddy.

I believe he's talking about the "daylighting" project... opening up the JCT like they did up at Smith Park on Division...

Re: Popping back in a bit.
Exactly. They had some surveyors down there repeatedly in the past few months. We got a "unofficial non-public" set of plans for phase one of the day-lighting last week. got to look at them for a bit, but they took them back to the city planners afterward, so I could not get a copy.
And to correct my statement, they will be Cutting the ribbon and opening the new green-way trails in 2012, which means the tunnels will be GONE by then. At the current planned construction times. Though this IS Springfield, with the way PW works on stuff, they may not begin it for 4 more years, and still claim to be on track to meet deadline.
I can state this much from the plans I saw, some of the tunnels will be refaced and stabilized. They will add solar lighting and a cell booster for security. A short portion will remain a tunnel with a raised trail to continue the greenway trials underground for a few blocks. But, the majority will be opened up and brought back to dirt and stone.

Hey Dogchain! How's it going? I'd be interested to know if they plan on bringing back the old iron bridge on Boonville, building a new stone arch bridge (to replace the one that was removed a long time ago) on Main Street, and restoring the old stone arch bridge over Campbell? Either way, it's very exciting news to hear... of course, I don't think it's safe to have a public walking path in a creek tunnel... We all know how fast the tunnel fills up when it rains hard.

Dang it, I'll be here in Springfield. Of course it's my Father-in-Law's big birthday bash he has every year. Booze, fire, pipes and cigars, brisket and other such delicious foods...
