It does my heart good to see so much hatred and bitterness.
Anyway, the teacher brought that Natl Geographic cave article to my attention in that cave class I took.
Devil's Hole in Arkansas is rumored at 200+ (ft) but I've never seen it with my own eyes, and probably wouldn't have the nerve to personally investigate that claim unless it were with a flatiron at the end of my clothesline.
Mel's Hole may be the world's deepest, if it exists, which I don't believe it does. There's a pretty interesting site about it here:

It's in Oregon or Washington or some place. This old crank named Mel Waters started getting on Art Bell a few years back and going on about how he had this bottomless pit on his property, and people have been looking for it ever since.
Remember, when you fall in a bottomless pit you die of starvation.
