The area where Bennis Hill is, is not an area I have spent a large amount of time in.

As far as Native American quarries, those could be almost anywhere there is a source of a valuable commodity. There is a certain colored novaculite whose source has never been determined. Either is was a small deposit that was depleted or it's still out there...
I was in Nevada earlier this year and a girl working at a state visitor center had told me she moved there from some eastern state and that when she came through Arkansas she meant to stop and look for a certain metamorphic rock found in the Ouachitas, but she didn't. I just now realized she may have been talking about novaculite.
I've seen many areas while hiking that appeared to have been quarried some time in the distant past, but they could be all kinds of things.
The Ouachitas have a enough mysteries and locations to check out that a person could speed a number of years trying to cover them all.
