The silt is almost to the ceiling and you can't get past it. The smell can be overwhelming. Whilst talking to the manager there, he also told me that some people from the sewer district went there and mapped out the main line for at least 15 miles. That's a lot of city to drain, I can't imagine the nasty crap that's probably in there. Super aids and such.

I walked in it until the muck starting threatening to go above my boots and I said fuck that. I have this thing about not wanting to contract Hepatitis.

It can't be open past the levee lock or why would that silt have been able to build up there in the first place?
More online investigation than onsite exploration these days.

I have been on the other side of the silt pile, and seen what the greener grass has to offer. That being said, I do not wish to go back anytime soon. So nasty.

Actually it's a ready mix plant. That's where they mix up concrete and load it into cement trucks. The big vats of chemicals are used in the different types of mixes to make the batches set faster or slower, add air to the mix, etc.

Cause this is what's inside, and moving a lil bit of mud outta the way should make room enough to get in.

Panic! or some other skinny bastard.
If i folded the bent metal flush with the deck I might be able to squeeze in there.
I squeezed in there.

It was cool, but that's all there was to the room. I would've considered going down into it, but I determined that it would be really difficult to get back out. The shaft faces downhill so to get out, I literally had to wiggle backwards uphill. But that would probably be the easier of the two exit options.

To try exiting that room head first would mean finding a new way to contort myself enough to fit through the hole and if that didn't work, I'd be stuck inside the boat until I could figure out how to climb up into the doorway using a sideways ladder while going backwards.

So I felt content to photograph the room while laying in the shaft, just sticking my upper body through the doorway.

If the bent metal was cleared from blocking part of the entry hole, it would be a piece of cake. As it is, I could only just barely fit and I ripped my shirt and scratched up my chest and stomach.

Okay, so after a lot of hard work I've finished part 1.
Just need to clean off the debris and give her a new coat of paint and we're good to go. :D
