I must say you have to get the right drain not sewer ;-p and time it with tides here and security at the end!
One time we did it, it was actually my first time back in 2000 we all huddled down the manhole, then blew up our boats at a junction.
Just as everyone had finished and was ready to go it DUMPED big time so we knew there was a storm close by but its a failry high drain and you can see the tidal marks.
The water rose about 20cm in 10secs we backed up the side split. I must admit l was packing shit cause usually you put your boat in the water and sit in it to start.
we couldn't put the boats in the water it was flowing way to fast.
Next minute l see a couple of others take a run and dive into their boats and basically white water raft it a bit.
The water kept rising but it was ok now l look back at it.
We all had oars to keep off the walls where there are heaps of barnicles and stupid me l carried a mag light and other assorted shit.
We then also dived in and fought the flow of water to guide us down the normally 40min+ drain.
think it probably took us 15 minutes in the end it was damn fast.
We got to the end all hyped and enthused and walked back to the manhole, popped it again to see the side pipe 80% full cause we considered going again.
No chance so we left it and had a rather good high for a while.
I think drain boating is awesome and its the only time we were able to time it perfectly but get to know your drains well before you try it as in the case this one, we knew we'd be ok.
cheers...
hope to see you all in 3 or so months!

RE: Your Equipment: Post
Three mismatched socks
Half a bottle of Gatorade (blue flavor)
The gun from Duck Hunt (cable still attached)
A sammich (usually chicken)
Gummy worms. At least three packages, because you can braid them together to make rope.
One live animal of some variety (borrow someone else's... they'll never know)
A lighter
Ten dollars in quarters (nickels are better, but get heavy)
And, most importantly...
A towel. Never go anywhere without a towel.
