My buddy and I visited the ruins of a castle we had heard about today. It definately exceeded my expectations. We only had a vague idea of where it was at, and knew that it was located on the property of a very large active company who don't like trespassers. However, we guessed well and found it without too much trouble.
We were able to talk to a few locals about the site. Apparently the wealthy man who commissioned the castle ran out of money when the great depression hit, before it could be completed. The parts that were completed still stand, and are beautiful even in their disrepair.
Does anyone else have any more historical information about this site?

Shit! I'd buy that and finish building it and then give tours! Oh and I'd mount working canons on the river side and fire at the river boats...

| I'd love to see the original blueprints of the place. I have to take a trip out to St. Louis just to see some of the stuff you folks have seen.

| I did some research about the place. Apparently the blueprints are still on file at the office of the architecture firm who designed it. Had it been completed, it would have been more lavish than the mansion that the Busch family built at Grant's Farm in St. Louis.

If you'd like, could you either post or PM me with the firm's name? I'm guessing it's going to cost close to $500 for copies of the blueprints if I wanted them for myself but who knows. Besides, they'd be cool to have!

Where exactly is this thing located? I see it's on the river but I think it would be badass to go poke around at.

EDIT: Nevermind, I found a site that has all the historical information on it, and a general location and such.

Am I the only person who would build something like that, make it look run down, keep a few places unlocked and let folks like us go in and take pictures, etc? I would even add some secret passageways and what not.
Okay, perhaps I'm a tad bit strange.
