Historic Diamond Cave and Forked Mountian Cave

Went with a friend to go check out Diamond Cave in Newton co. It is the most beautiful cave I've been to in Arkansas after Blanchard Springs. The next day I went and climbed forked mountian in the Ouachitas of Perry co and found a cave on the side. I wanted to share some of my pics.

More Pictures, yayyy. On the top I could see all the way to Oklahoma to the west, Ozarks 70 miles to the north and I could also see the nuclear power plant in russelville about 50 miles away.

Those pictures are beautiful. How far back does the cave system go? I've always heard of it but have never been there before.

We didn't even make it to the back of the cave and we walked for a couple hours. The cave used to be a tour cave many years ago so it was all walking passages which was nice

Wow this sounds like a really nice trip. I'm going to have to research this. You would'nt want to head out earlier one day soon and try to make it to the back would you? And if you did, you definitely wouldn't want me to tag along right?

I know this an old thread but I was resarching Diamond cave and came across the following statement. "There was also a hotel (the Panther Inn), built of massive logs which still stands along with two other log buildings and another that might have served as the ticket office. There was also a skating rink located on the property."

Does anyone know if any of these structures still exist today?

They still exist but its a hollowed out shell of its former self.

They are still there but like rockhound said, they are collapsing and derelict. HOWEVER, I thought they were still very cool to look at and walk around in.

Hey gnomad1, was there any way of slipping into the cave?

Without destruction of property, no. I have never made it inside because it has always been locked. I definitely advise against damaging anything to enter a location.

I am working on pulling a couple strings with a common connection to get inside. I'll definitely make a post if I make it in.
