People interested in organized caving

Post by caver »

There will be a regional event located near the Springfield area at the end of the month.
Some of you seem to be interested in caves and show interest in cave conservation.
The organization

Most people camp and treat this more like a party.
Cave trips are offered but don't show up with a flashlight duct taped to your helmet. I found it a great way to access caves when I first started organized caving yet didn't have many connections.
Caving impaired,,,too old, too fat, don't care.

I think that sounds cool. I have 4 caves I want to go see. But I am a girl and nobody wants to go with they are not interested in caves or hiking. I don't want to go alone. My dog is the only one that likes to hike. My great grandparents use to own the land where Fulbright pump station is they sold it to Mr Fulbright. My great grandmother use to tell us all about stuff out there she swore up and down there were Indian burial mounds along the river. there are several caves there and the foundation of there old house. Me and my brother went out there to take pictures for her one time before they fenced it all off. I think we can still accessit all from the other side and go to the old cemetary where some of my relatives are buried. they have to give access to the cemetary.

That sounds like fun. I am always up for a good caving trip. God's cruel joke was to make me love caving and fairly tall.

If you can make that event just tell them (at registration)your interested
in caving and heard about MVOR through a friend.
A local grotto (caving club) is sponsoring this event so
hopefully someone there could hook you up.

I won't be attending or I could loan you a hardhat with chinstrap and helmet mounted light. Cavers can be a bit standoffish and secretive. Don't let that put you off.
MVOR's have cave trips for every skill level.
Cave trips Saturday morning and a big bonfire Saturday night.
