Henry Schoolcraft

Post by RedRook »

I've been researching some mines near Springfield that has led me to an explorer named Henry Schoolcraft. This guy explored quite a bit of both Missouri and Arkansas. I also recently learned from reading a sillier thread on this forum that Google has tons of free books you can just search through on www.google.com, one happens to be on mines in Missouri by Schoolcraft:

It is a pretty dry read, but every now and then you come across something pretty interesting, and it has info on what I'm exploring right now. Luckily, there is a search feature on the left hand side.

Other cities might even find it interesting. I didn't expect to find a whole chapter on dwarf skeletons 15 miles form St. Louis. It makes you wonder if the mounds he describes are still somewhere in St. Louis.

Then I decided to check Guttenberg, and I found even more of his works.

I'm particularly interested in this:

I just thought I'd share. It's crazy you don't have to go to the library to find this stuff anymore.
