Blowing Cave - Cushman, Ar

Post by Durnald_toad »

I’m looking for a map overlay of the cave.

I’ve been in a few times myself. We took fishing line in with us, tied it at the opening and ran it the intire distance we went in. Then, we rolled it up on the way out and measured it when we got home. It measured 1,300ft (seemed further than that inside the cave)

We plan on returning to explore other pathways but it would be nice to have an idea on where to go.

*** We reached what I would call the dead end (I thought) past the nails in the wall with the rope ledge. Through the neck deep water and up… a few rooms past that and it seemed to dead end in every direction.

Any advice on how to get further in is greatly appreciated.

Update:

It turns out we were only about half way to a waterfall that is deep inside.
So, we gear up and go deeper

Hey, iv been to this cave a few times, it's pretty cool but really muddy! I know some people in the little rock grotto that got to the back of this cave, but only after they had to camp over night half way through, it is well over 3 miles long but when your underground it seems much longer

If anyone needs a map of the cave send me a PM and I'll get you one. I'm a Batesville local and have went as far back as the waterfall room before. If you don't mind getting wet it's a great trip. The farther back you go the better it gets.

Thanks for the map Virtus!

My buddy BatteryPhil made an overlay using the map and Google Earth!

You're welcome I'm glad it helped! If anyone else wants it let me know. It's a PDF map and the site won't let me send it through PM so if anyone else wants it send me a message and I'll email it to you.
