I don't really understand your attitude that the outside, the mostly stripped bridge, and the guns were the coolest parts of the boat and there's "not much to see" now. The mech room we were in is still there. The forward crew cabin is now accessible and you can see actual bunks.

Yeah it sucks that they started scrapping it and then left the pieces in the river, but the boat's like an onion of new things to discover. And they didn't take all the guns. The port side gun is still secure in the depths of the riverbed.

Personally I'm happy the river reclaimed the bridge before they could scrap the pieces. When the gage is low we can still play on them.

Sorry. My intended message was simply that it's no longer recognizable as what it was. Yes, I would like to crawl inside more of it. But I am confident that when the water is low enough that we can climb on it again, the scrapping will resume.

Just noticed that Google maps have updated their aerial imagery since the partial scrapping.

Looking at it through Google Earth historical imagery you can see its gradual decline.
We are all just sloguns waiting to have our triggers pulled.

Can't remember if this has been linked here before or not. Pre-1993 flood images.

Went to go check on the boat Sunday, apparently that part of the flood wall is a pretty popular hang out spot these days. Turned the corner onto Wharf and saw 8 guys playing basketball against the flood wall by the concrete plant openings and another 10 across the road hanging out by that building. Was like, "Nope." And turned around by the pumping station, next to a dude parked in an Escalade.

Google Maps isn't very encouraging - doesn't show evidence of the ship anymore. Are we sure it's not been 100% scrapped?

Can't tell, the aerials all show the river up, so it could just be underwater.

I would be sad if it were totally scrapped.

Edit: Best Google review: Worst cruise I've ever been on. The deck hands were surly, the drinks needed ice and the shuffleboard court was too rusty to play on. For some reason, we never left St. Louis. Don't ship out with this cruise company!

From today. Looks pretty much the same as that top down aerial I posted further up the page, except the river is deeper today.

One of you drone flyers need to get out there and get us a video of it from up close.

Ya know, if they wanted to make money off scrapping the boat, I'm not sure why they didn't cut off the two mooring posts on the bow, they're giant hunks of steel.

River Gage is at .5' right now. Might be low enough to walk out to again.

Explored the boat today. River gage was at -1.5'. Be advised, if you go there, all of the flood wall doors by the concrete plant are closed.
