Full auto weapons have the lengthy paperwork and its proper procedure, just like e. Bola. What the issue with semi auto, a whack job will get his hand on anything legal or not why punish the average guy.

To use the earlier analogy, I don't see how a semi-automatic is any less deadly than an automatic weapon or anthrax or something. Just because the real fanatics are determined doesn't mean we should just sit around and watch them get their hands on anthrax, right?

Remember the Christmas Day bombing attempt in 2009? If al-Qaeda really wanted to blow up that airplane - and they got very close - should we just say, "Ah screw it, they're going to get their hands on the explosives anyway, so let's just make it easier for everyone else and get rid of the TSA."

At any rate, this is an urbex forum and not a gun rights forum. Why not move this thread somewhere more relevant ...?

The answer is enforcement of the current laws. Not legislating new ones based on arbitrary selection of aesthetics and other such useless qualifications.

If anyone is sitting around letting people get their hands on guns they shouldn't have, that's not going to be resolved by bills such as this.

Simple solution: Enforce the laws already in place.

Propositions such as this do NOTHING to affect the current crime statistics.

I encourage anyone and everyone who cares enough to do their own research and come to their own conclusions based on the facts and statistics. You will come to the same conclusion. These bans are arbitrary and pointless and only punish the current, law-abiding, owners of the guns in the list.

Here's a tasty bit of additional information:

I've booked thousands of firearm sales. I've gone to seminars held by the ATF/FBI at the FBI headquarters downtown. I have personal first hand experience in the process of firearm sales.

The actual problem is Straw Sales. This happens when someone who is clean and clear buys a gun for someone who shouldn't be allowed to own one.

This is how handguns get into the hands of criminals, well that and theft. Handguns are overwhelmingly the weapon of choice in crimes. So instead of making up silly bullshit, like that bill and the Clinton Assault Weapon Ban, we should be doing more to stop the ACTUAL problem.

[quote="SubLuar"]

You cannot waltz into a store and buy, for example, an AK-47. But you can buy a Semi-Auto variant, known as a WASR-10. The WASR-10 is fundamentally different in the way it operates[ /quote]

The AK 47 semi auto can be had and its the same platform as a full auto, different sear I believe? Same reliable platform as the full auto version though. Same thing with the saigas,sksand all the other AK variants I beleive

Right, but it's called a WASR-10 (if it was made in romania, they're different depending on where they're made) and does not have full auto capability. AK-47 = a full auto military grade weapon.

No, check the fine print-it says made with a parts kit. It looks like it has an 'AK7' stamp on it as well, which is likely another variant. It would be possible to take a true ak-47 and remove the full auto capability with a different , but it would no longer be am honest to goodness ak-47.

Or they're stolen from people who acquire firearms legally and then traded on the black market, which is just as bad. Unfortunately for safety, but fortunately for privacy rights, the government hasn't yet to my knowledge attempted to require all guns to have tracker chips in them. (But for some reason, at least one manufacturer has moved in that direction.)
