I spent some time researching it a while back and I found an obscure reference in an old book in google books, but I'm only 50% sure on it. I just tried and I can't even re-trace my steps to locate my source.
I think it was the Western Furniture Company. I think the building would reasonably suit that sort of business.
I haven't explored it yet. You can see it from the highway. One side is all boarded up, but the other side looks to be pretty open so it could be worth checking out. It meets my criteria, being large old and made of brick. But I don't like not having a definite name to go by. The address is approximate..
Name This Building. |

The MO SOS site has a dissolution doc (from 1933) that lists the address for Western Furniture Co. as 1500 Palm. According to the city's database that's across the street from the building you noted (which is on the 1400 block). But they obviously could have had offices in that building and all their production/storage across the street.
The company was either sold, renamed or another one (Meier and Pohlmann Furniture) went up in it's place, or next door, whatever the case may be. Nice pic and good history Here
The building is the only parcel in the 1400 block and is currently owned by The Junction Apartments LP which is owned by another LLC. Judging from this, it looks like they had plans for a nice rehab. However, it's recently been listed for sale for $395,000. |

| FWIW, this was my source. It just says the office was at Blair Ave and Palm, so that's all I was going off of. |

Sanborn Fire Insurance maps list that block as the Meier and Pohlmann Furniture Company.
