looks like the scrappers were out and ripped all of the copper gutters off judging by the slate shingles along the edges. i would imaging that is why the basement is locked up tight.

Looks like STL County also vetoed an annexation by the neighboring village last year when PBE "strenuously" objected.

At around 100ac....that area could be developed into most anything.

A-Ha! It was indeed a Busch home! It belonged to Andrew Busch, who sold the property to the original developer in 2005. That developer is the one which went bellyup, stymieing the proposal for a huge mixed-use plan.
That explains the lavishness of the building.

Investigating this also 'splained to me what happened to the low stone wall that was once (OK-years ago) in front of the property and had 2 Civil War era cannons protruding from it. When I was a kid, I thought it was a Civil War fort. Turned out when Busch developed the property he removed the wall and moved the cannons and eventually loaned them, refurbished and on carriages, to the Historic Area that is in the area of the village.

Just the Real Estate info available on the Department of Revenue's site.
Plus some Google info and info from the site of the village involved in the annexation attempt.
