So, I was in the ER last night until nearly 3am with the girlfriend. We went and explored that little side tunnel under the bridge just before the Jordan Creek tunnel. By the time we got home she had what appeared to be a sunburn on her arms and chest.
By the following morning it had spread into a swelling itchy splotchy rash that went up around her neck, under her arms, down her back, and onto her legs. She took Bendryl and slept all day, but it didn't get any better.
So I was kind freaking out. Who knows what she could have been exposed to in that tunnel? Some rare primitive and deadly mold? Some toxic fume rolling up off of the train-yard chemicals that drain into that tunnel?
Of course I felt guilty cause I drug her down there.
So, 4 hours in the ER later, we find out that another medication she is taking can in some rare cases cause photosensitivty, which in Pistachio happened to manifest as aggresive dermatitas.
She was allergic to the sun....well I feel a lot better. I was just trying to save her by taking her in the tunnel.
So...if you are ever put on Bactrim for an ear infection....don't go out in the sun! You will swell up into an angry miserable strawberry! _________________ "To argue with a man who has renounced reason is like administering medicine to the dead."-Thomas Paine |

I get weird spots sometimes on my arms and hands that I can't explain. They turn into little sores but eventually heal and go away.
Also we're all probably going to die of Mesothelioma. |

Yeah....
mold, asbestos, chemical fumes, bird and vermine waste...
There needs to be a term for it. Miner's have Miner's Lung.
Drain Lung? Exploration Lung? Tunnel Lung? _________________ "To argue with a man who has renounced reason is like administering medicine to the dead."-Thomas Paine |

I usually get small spots of poison ivy/oak/etc after exploring thru woods, that I missed washing off in the shower afterwards and take about a week to manifest themselves. _________________ Now I'll be bold, As well as strong

| Asbestos and mold are over rated. I've worked in places filled with both and have studied a little about it. It will only effect you if you deal with it everyday for 30+ years. On the other hand my buddy has got some weird skin thing lately that causes his feet to look like a frost bitten diabetics foot and his skin to look like fish scales. |

Yeah lead paint, is another one people are scared about.... It's pisses me off that people are so paranoid. Previous generation ate from lead glazed dishes, has lead pipes, handled lead and used it everyday. I don't see people falling over from lead poisoning, I know its not going to come on all at once but shit, where's the old peeps with lead issues. Same goes for mercury... As a child my mom would break open old thermometers and play with the mercury on a table... ?
Our generation is paranoid
Jammer I'm not speaking at you or your gf, just outloud. I don't think its a asbestos she ran into maybe mold or some unnatural toxins? _________________ THE THREAD KILLER! |

Yeah, it turned out to be a sun allergy brought on by a bad reaction to the antibiotic Bactrim. If you are ever prescribed Bactrim, avoid the outdoors for a while. _________________ "To argue with a man who has renounced reason is like administering medicine to the dead."-Thomas Paine |

It is funny how everyones so scared of asbestos and lead paint, and now if you work with any of it, like removing it cuz everyone thinks if theres that shit in a building they won't go in cuz they'll die so they demand it removed, haha, you have to wear a hazmat suit to remove it, its hilarious look it up, to remove little bits any of that shit you gotta suit up so it can't touch you. LoL.
Yeh this generation is screwed up and its getting worse, luckily I can just kick back, relax, and laugh. I'll fuckin go up and lick a lead painted wall but everyone else won't even go in the same room with lead in there. |

usually the stuff is only dangerous when you are messing with it and you stir it up into the air... or you stand there licking it.... WHY would you do that? _________________

Yeah, actually I found out I can remove the asbestos tile siding from my house without hazmat. The rules are I can't break it and I must box it up, seal it up and lable it. Then I must find the proper disposal site for it. So apparently I don't have to hire anyone special to do it. _________________ "Oh my God! Wal-mart's going to march on Poland!" ~ Lewis Black
