I am assuming that Willard is in the "Renovate the bitch! Cost be Damned" camp?

It is a digusting waste of space. It's also gonna be expensive as hell to renovate.
I wonder how long it'll have to sit before they demolish it? _________________ "To argue with a man who has renounced reason is like administering medicine to the dead."-Thomas Paine |

Had they not started the job several years ago and then left it half done and open to the elements the bldg would be in a lot better shape right now. _________________ Now I'll be bold, As well as strong

Money and the economy. The story is complicated but that's the just of it. A developer took the project on back when the economy was decent. Then he started to get cold feet when it looked like the investment might not pay off. I think it changed hands a couple of times, the city was willing to front a bunch of money to subsidize the project, but finally the developers pulled totally out. _________________ "To argue with a man who has renounced reason is like administering medicine to the dead."-Thomas Paine |

The first developer, Proust, I still believe would have delivered on the goods, however our moronic City Council decided he wasn't moving fast enough and yanked the building from him and then sold it McGowen. Proust was the one that actually spent the money on the building, he had it pre-leased for everyone wanting loft space, but needed more time on pre-leasing for commercial space. _________________ "Oh my God! I don't know how businesses on the ground level would fair. There is a lot of churn down town, and plenty of empty buildings.
However, from the second story up you could probably make some really nice apartments that would rent for good money. It could easily become THE place to live if you are a happening young person, maybe cater to a similar market as the ECO Park apartments? _________________ "To argue with a man who has renounced reason is like administering medicine to the dead."-Thomas Paine |

I think the right businesses would work downtown on the square. Restaurants are always risky ventures, but I could see one doing okay. I really miss having a book store down town. Of course there is always room for another bar. Obviously Springfield needs a Dave and Busters. _________________ The devil is in the details, but I'm pretty sure God is in my sock drawer. |

Here's a link to the pictures i took back in jan. of 2010. I haven't been able to find a place to get in since then, but i'm sure it hasn't changed too much from when i took these.

Just an FYI, you might want to relable the floors... what you labed the 2nd floor is actually just the Mezzenine part of the 1st floor and all subsequent floors after that are off by one 3rd should be called 2nd, 4th should be called 3rd and so fourth. The top floor with no windows facing college or the square is the 7th floor. It took me a minute to figure out what I was looking at as far as floors. (and yes, I did see the florecent '4' on one photo... the person that spraypainted it was incorrect) _________________ "Oh my God! Wal-mart's going to march on Poland!" ~ Lewis Black
