Cave on Catalpa

Post by construct_this »

Does anyone know of a cave system on Catalpa? I know of one entrance but its on private property. The owners told me the previous owners let a MSU class go in it and they tracked it back 1.5 miles. Its around all the springs just east of 65. I went in the entrance but was without a light and didn't get far because I was supposed to be working. I wanted to go back but I am not sure how the relationship with me and the owners is. I know they would never let anyone random go in there... Thats why I am wondering if there is anyother entrances!

Ya, need more specifics. That area is full of caves, sinkholes, and there used to be quite a bit of mining activity there.

Well I hate to just throw the entrance location I know of out due to the owners and trespassing. I will say however its just east of the tracks, like barely east... The entrance is in a small valley or gorge type thing, but there is a house and pool that are on top of the cave... I was surprised there wasn't problems when they built the monster house because of the depth of the footings and the proximity of the cave. Its one of the rich folk houses back there so I would doubt they would be helpful in a tour.

If you can catch the wife without the husband I bet that would work. She was a very nice lady... He was nice... but that rich guy kinda nice!

Actually thinking about it now... If an MSU class went through it I would imagine it is probably mapped somewhere.

If was to see a map of Cox cave I might be able to identify it. For some reason I am under the impression that this cave goes under Catalpa and into the field... but I could be completely wrong(which I probably am.)
