iPad

Post by SubLunar »

What the fuck is so great about these things?

If anyone out there owns one, please tell me what the hype is about.

1. What is it about them that makes them so great?

2. What are you using them for most of the time?

3. What am I missing out on?

I have a few laptops with specific music creation and graphic design software on them. I do everything I need to on them. That stuff wouldn't even be feasible on an iPad.

So aside from all the stuff I actually care about doing on a computer, what does an iPad have to offer?

I'm not anti-mac. I owned an iBook G4 for about a month. Wasn't impressed.

Going to say the obvious answer to question 2 is porn. Just a thought.

Dunno, all i ever see people using there's for is to cruise the internet or play games.

I don't really see the point in getting one myself.
More online investigation than onsite exploration these days.

Borrowed my sister's when went to visit her. Was great for navigating in an area I was unfamiliar with. But I can't see laying out the bucks for one.

They're really better if you're a business type person who is heavily schedule oriented. It replaces the At-A-Glance folders that most people used to carry around with something that is lighter, more efficient and can do more.

Also if you're a book tablet user...it's better than kindle. The leather case that you can get with it, props it up so you can use things like hulu and netflix much more comfortably.

Really....the ipad is a true apple product in grand scheme of apple products in that it really isn't for everybody. There's a select group of people that benefit from it and a vast majority that really can do without it....which is why it costs so darn much.

The iphone and ipod are the only two apple products that carry significant market wide demand....and for me, the iphone accomplishes all the things that having an Ipad would do so I've never felt the need to invest in one, although they are really cool.
I think something clever is supposed to go right here.

My friend has one. It's good to look at the internet or play games if you're going somewhere boring like a doctors waiting room or waiting in a long line. When I was pregnant I passed the long waits in the doctors office looking at that thing many times lol. It's easier to take places than a whole computer and you can hold it with one hand unlike a laptop. Other than that I see no point. I wouldn't spend that much for it myself but they're fun if you know somebody who will let you borrow theirs when you have a boring place to go.

I bought my wife one for her birthday 2 years ago. It's good for watching movies in bed with headphones, with the free Kindle app it's great for reading books articles etc. Holds a charge for a pretty good while. They don't get hot. They're not cumbersome. If you have a hotspot or a new tablet with 4G, it's great for traveling. There's a Google Earth app, MapQuest app Bing app, GPS etc etc. The thing has been dropped a bunch of times and nothing is wrong with it. Another thing about it is, there's tons of software available that you only need to download to install. I think !Pads are really very handy. It has it limitations though. It' not the greatest thing for document editing at all. Porcessors are weak on the old ones so resolution craps out while watching movies sometimes. Also, a lot of the newer apps won't run on it. Just like with the !Phone, the newer apps only run on the newer gadgets.
