Let's see yours.
Injuries while exploring are preferred, but I guess we don't need to limit it.

Here's my best injury.
While going into the window of the building pictured below, I stood up while looking back to the parking lot to make sure we weren't spotted. I didn't pay attention to that giant rusty spike protruding downward (circled). When they cut off the stairs at this point, the molten metal had formed a drip that turned rusty over time. That rusty stalactite drip went straight into my head.
Standing up full force into something like that is a terrible experience. My skull was visible and I still have a dent in my head. I did manage to explore the place, all the while bleeding from my head. I figured if it was serious, I'd pass out or something. But I didn't so I never sought medical attention. It was, however, really painful.
The last time I saw that portion of my scalp, it was dangling from the rusty stalactite. I may have a photo of it hanging there, I'll have to check.

| Rather than "bloodiest wins", Let's say most gruesome wins. You could bleed alot from a paper cut or something. We're going for gore here. |

There was more blood coming out of your head after you fell into that barbwire fence this past weekend.
And the evenly spaced dots looked cooler. _________________ Now I'll be bold, As well as strong

Even though it's not from exploring, I once got clotheslined off a riding lawn mower by an actual clothesline. _________________ Now I'll be bold, As well as strong

That actually happened from losing my balance after I crossed the fence and fell forward into the brush. Turns out, the brush is sharp and pointy. |

This gash is from my jeep hood and knocking the shit outta my head. The gash was the size of a quarter, bled down my face and all over my hand and down my arm. Good shit, helluva headache. _________________ THE THREAD KILLER! |

And I had 2 black bruises, one 2"x2" and the other 1"x1" right next to each other on my inner thigh for a good 2 weeks till they started to fade, from having to climb over a fence so I wouldn't be arrested. _________________ Now I'll be bold, As well as strong

You're right, there was a thread like this: http://www.undergroundozarks.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=107787#107787
Except all my pictures are broken links so that thread sucks now.
I shall fix that in my next post here.

| PANIC! on the Titanic wrote: | So one day, my friends and I went on a canoe trip on the Big Piney. It was just going to be an 8 mile trip, the goal of which was to find and rappel a good size cliff. So we parked my vehicle at the finish point and my friend's vehicle at the put in point. We took off and goofed around for the first mile or two until we found a nice set of bluffs to climb.
So okay, we park our canoes and climb to the top of this giant bluff, hoping we have enough rope to get ourselves back down to the bottom. We are several hundred feet above the river by this point. Each of us has a good couple of rappels, and it is climbing back up that the first accident occurs. I was climbing back up unroped on an easier bouldering path, and my friend was right below me. I was about halfway up the first cliff bench when the rock I was standing on broke off and I had to slam my body into the cliff to keep from falling down, into my friend, and then ultimately the ground, perhaps even the river if we rolled that far. So I gashed my knee and got a really bad dead-leg, and had to wait a minute to get feeling back in it. Also, my friend had a gash in the head from where the broken rock had fallen and hit him. When we got to the top, I assessed my injuries:
Pretty cool huh? So that was the end of that cliff. I was starting to bleed a good amount and we had another like, 4 hours to get back to my vehicle. So we got in our canoes again and started paddling, me trying to stop bleeding. We had to rip up a good T shirt to make a tourniquet, but after a while the thing was completely red and my leg was covered in blood. Now it was getting kind of serious; I couldn't stop bleeding. Well, the way I figure it, I probably won't bleed like that again for a long time, so I may as well have some fun with it. We climbed onto a train bridge and I had my fun:
Yeah, that is all 100% blood. No dyes, paints, pastels or related coloring devices. My medium is blood. Okay, so we kept on going down river, and I had to change tourniquets again. We made it to the takeout point by nightfall, several hours later. I was quite pale by then. But lo, there was one more setback: my keys... yeah they're in my friend's car 10 miles upstream. Crap.
Long story edited and shortened, it took us 7.5 hours after I started bleeding to get back to my dorm. By then I was getting pale, was on my 2nd tourniquet, had a headache and my leg looked like this:
Those were my friend's shoes, which I borrowed that morning because I didnt want to ruin mine.
And yes that is a smiley face to the right of my knee.
What a great day! |
