My first big explore

Post by sneaky1 »

Well, I've been lurking and researching about. Doing a little posting. And now, I've taken the plunge and started going out. Last weekend, I went looking around an operational factory, we thought was abandoned. That was pretty interesting, there was a lot of old machinery, sorry I don't have any pictures. It was spur of the moment and I forgot a camera. Then, this weekend I made a trip to the Piasa caves in Alton, IL and then all the way back to my hometown to visit my old high school which is now sitting empty for the past 5 years. Luckily, this weekend I brought my camera with me, and I'm glad to share my pictures with you guys. Is it okay for me to just post a link to the album? I can come back and do individual photos if you'd like.

By the way, for my adventures around the Metro East, should I just post in the St. Louis forum? since there is no Illinois forum...but there could be :)

Good work. You can always share some pics in the photo-a-day thread.

Nice pics. Did you come across any workers in the active factory? I've had a couple close calls sneaking into the power plant here just to sniff around. A couple times I've found myself just feet from some worker with his back turned. Always fun.

redox: I was actually there alone, so I didn't want to go far from the entrance to the tunnel, but I know they at least follow the perimeter of the building I went in from, and probably have connections to the other buildings as well. I will go back with somebody to look further into them.

PANIC!: Thanks. And, no we didn't see any workers, it is apparently closed on weekends, and we went on a Saturday. But there is a seperate office building for the plant that had a truck parked out front with fresh tracks in the snow we got the night before, so there must have been somebody in there. We weren't interested in going in their offices though, probably had alarms anyhow.

SubLunar: I will certainly consider putting my better ones up. Thanks for the reminder.

except for where some douchebag spray painted in there...some people have no appreciation for nature, disgusting. but yeah, it was really cool. at first i thought the shiny was crystals or something, but it was these tiny droplets of water, so cool!
