I was pretty big into lineage II for awhile but lately I have backed out of online gaming due to it being summertime. I havent role played out of a book for years now though.
I went over to the dark side, but just to pick up a few things.

You're all freaks.
Gaming should be done with pen, paper, and dice.

Ahhhh yes, mindscape.
Remember when Dungeons and Dragons came in a simple box....with one dice that you had to fill in with a crayon...and there weren't 500 pages of rules?
THOSE were the good old days!

I dont remember a simple box. I didnt start playing till AD&D 2nd edition came out. I quit playing when the 3rd edition rules came out due to age and other interests.

RE: Knights of Pythias Temple
The first D & D set came in a box....the adventure guide and rule book were just simple booklets. Everything was determined by the role of the dice, even the hair and eye color of your character. Mine had a blue 6 sided die, and it came with a black crayon to rub over the die so the impressed numbers would show up. Then it got more complicated with the DMG and players guide, monster tome...ect...dang...I had all that stuff FIRST edition...the second rules were ok...but yeah, the third set is crap...I love the orgional.
I had a huge yard sale when I was preparing to move to Germany.....oh the things I should have kept...especially when I see what things sell for on ebay....oh well...
Roleplay is still a huge thing in Germany. Every fall there is a H U G E game convention in Essen...all the game makers...roleplay, cardboard, any possible type game you can imange, relase their new games. It is probably the coolest thing I have ever been to. You get to test a lot of games before they even come out on the market.
oopsss I have wandered too far off the topic....sorry about that

I'm partial to the Palladium RPGs... Rifts, Nightbane, Heroes Unlimited and the like. Especially Nightbane... Any game with a spell called "Maggot Curse", or the ever popular "Remove Skin" is pretty sweet in my book!

7th Sea is pretty cool and then there's the greatest story telling contest of all time... The Adventures of Baron Munchousen (sp?)

I have, right here in my hot little hands, the boxed set everybody's talking about: TSR's "Dungeons & Dragons Basic Set with introductory module". Comes with the Dungeons & Dragons rulebook (basically a really hefty pamphlet), and Mike Carr's (that name comes up a lot around here, doesn't it?) module "Dungeon Module B1: In Search of the Unknown". Also comes with one of each of the following:
-d20
-d12
-d8
-d6
-d4 (aka The Caltrop of Doom... all the dice are extremely pointy... this one's wicked enough to nearly draw blood)
TSR product number: 1001... the beginning.
