Knights of Pythias Temple

Post by gimpface »

Those few of you who know me know that I am an EMT about to start Paramedic training, and that my eventual goal is to be a medic on a SWAT team. Lately I've been doing research on the various teams in the area (trying to decide who's ass to kiss to send me to TAC school) and while doing a search on the Combined Ozarks Multi-jurisdictional Enforcement Team (COMET), I stumbled onto yet another reference to our lovely area by a conspiracy/UFO weirdo:

Interesting is how cleverly encyclopedias talk about springs but
never caverns, and that De Sota was more curious about caverns
than springs. The tunnels I recently learned of that lead off from
basement rooms in the old KNIGHTS OF PYTHIAS TEMPLE in
Springfield, Missouri, which is in the heart of the Ozarks, gives
pause for a lot of wonder and conjecture Until recently, I thought
only a few surface dwellers knew and had access to the
Underworld, but it now appears to be common knowledge among
those of a specific segment of the population... It's just that those
who talk don't live long."

There are several other copies of this file that turned up during this search. (BTW, That link will take you to a site that includes anarchist/explosive info, so you may not really want to click it)

Anyone know what the hell he's talking about? Or if you do, are you the "segment of the population" that will be silenced? In the meantime, I'll try to find more links.

alot of conspiracy buffs believe in a society of underground dwellers that have superior knowledge and technology. Alot also believe in an underground society like the illuminati or the masons running the world.

Well, yeah that's what the article is about. I'm wondering what this so-called temple is.

Edit: According to the Knights of Pythias website,

http://www.missouripythians.org/Lodges/Lodges.html

there is no lodge in Springfied... so where the hell is this old one with freaky-cool tunnels?

I'm a member of the Knights of Pythias. There is a lodge (group) in this area still, but it is in Republic now. Springfield origninally had 2 lodges (groups) in 1883 and then added a third lodge (group) in 1891. One lodge hall was built on Commercial street but was sold out to the Citizens Bank in the 1930's with the construction of the joint lodge hall on Boonville across from Pipkin Junior High. All three lodges (groups) met in that building until probably the 1960's or 1970's. I'm not sure when the lodges closed and the building was torn down but I do know that the three original lodges (groups) no longer exist. The last Pythian lodge (group) was not any of the original 3, it closed shortly before the current lodge I belong to was formed. I will say that the only tunnels that any of the lodge buildings may have had were the steam tunnels under the sidewalks which have long ago been filled in. Also the Knights of Pythias built a Childrens Home here in 1914. I've been throughout the whole building including the basement and the only tunnel is the one going from the main "castle" to the laundry building in the back. There is a door on the west side in the basmemt that goes nowhere. It was put there in anticipation of a wing being added onto the building. That never happend because due to the lack of children staying at the home in 1940, the Knights of Pythias sold the property to the US Military and it became part of the O'Reilly Military Hospital. The Army national Guard now occupies 2/3rds of the original property and the Castle went to private ownership in the 1980's.

Any questions?

So basically, you're saying that the tunnel dosen't lead to a nightmarish underworld populated by cruel reptilian overlords planning (and, for that matter, executing) their wretched plot to enslave and/or eat the human scourge, and ship us off to the unholy salt mines (mmm... precious saaaaaaaalt!) of N'grlech-ha?

This could only mean....

YOU'RE ONE OF THEM!

If he smells like cold steel and pennies, he's most certainly an elf.

I would advise against smelling random poeple from the internet... I tried it once and the results were not pretty. Two words could pretty much sum up the experience: "nose" and "syphylis".
