Apartment Building on Cabanne Ave

Post by infantsatan »

I'm new here. But awhile ago I explored a very medieval looking apartment building on Cabanne Ave. The only info on it I can find is that it was built in 1925. It's 3 stories with what I can only assume was an underground garage/storage. If anyone has any info on this place it would be much appreciated. Thank you

Welcome! Yeah I don't know much about that place either other than that it's a pretty cool apartment complex.

Didn't you and waave explore that place Sub, or maybe it was Mandy? I swear there's a thread a couple years ago with pics...

Yeah I've been there. The only thing I could find was a date associated with it.

Built in 1925, these condos were foreclosed on March of 2010.

Was owned by:
Now - CABANNE CASTLE PROPERTIES (Has a CA mailing address)
05-~15 - WOODSLAND PROP LLC (CA Mailing Address)
03-04 - GREEN DOT PROPERTIES LLC (Local)
90s-02 - ACANO PROPERTIES (Local)

Based on the complaints, it looked like it was a shitty place to live in from the mid 90s on. In 2005 the city did a building inspection and found 24 violations.

The empty lot across the street had St. Philomena's Technical School, built in 1910, till 1970. It was a couple other things before being demoed by the LRA in 1996. Vanishing STL talks about the school and the small house next to the condos here.

Hi infantsatan, lol funny name. I explored it too. The Moorlands and Demun neighborhoods, in Clayton, have a number of (inhabited) apartment buildings of similar design. The Tudor Revival style was apparently very popular in St Louis during the 1920s. A number of architectural firms of the time designed neo-old-world buildings in the area.
