Any abandoned mines around Calico Rock?

Post by Zach »

I live in Calico Rock, Arkansas, (Izard County), and I've explored everything I can find and deem worthy. I'd really be interested in finding some abandoned mines without having to drive to Rush.

If anybody has any idea of how I could do this (Google Earth, perhaps?) I'm open for suggestions. Thanks guys.

Wandering, what web site did you load this map from? These will be very useful.

Thats not from a website.
Thats from Google Earth with a USGS Topo layer added to it. Its a little slow doing it like that as theres some lag from the server it gets the images from.

A better option if your patient is GPS Viking, it stores the Topo on your hard drive.

Not real a intuitive program, but play with it you can figure it out.

Theres a link in that page I put together to get the Topo layer.
