Stupid ideas

Post by Shemp72 »

This is a really stupid idea, but I'd love to sneak around this mess -

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chemetco

I've been in the parking lot, it's fascinating but I really wouldn't want to get caught roaming around.

Anyone else have any places that would be awesome to explore but for whatever reason it's just a stupid or very, very dangerous idea, i.e. Chain of Rocks water intake towers.?

No, it's just south Hartford on Rt. 3. They got busted in the 90's for being polluting assholes. It was a copper refinery.

I've always wanted to explore the radioactive part of Westlake Landfill. Lol.

Why not? Bring home a 55 gallon drum of radioactive goodness.

Almost all of those buildings at the end of Latty Ave in Berkeley are considered contaminated. And there are two that are really inviting.

The wood river refinery was one of the first things that came to mind anyway. I'd love to explore it.

Industrial sites are awesome. I'd love to explore a smelter or refinery sometime.

Ha, I thought you were talking about the lead smelter initially, ropingk. I'd have to skip the active mining operation also. Shit gets all explodey in active mines.

I think Chemetco is gone now. I could be wrong, but I think even less is left than what is indicated on Google Earth. I always end up driving that way every couple of months.

I've always wanted to explore Pea Ridge.

Considering I've gotten stuck in a well in winter time and broke the cardinal sin of caving: exploring a cave by myself without anyone knowing I was there; I don't think I need to come up with any more dumb ideas.
More online investigation than onsite exploration these days.
