Well to answer some questions, from what I've read on the history, the original owner wanted to put the profits back into the park but the other partners of the business wanted to take the first year's profits & waste it all on all that stupid unneccessary garbage--the mall & resort, rink, etc. rather than waiting to see how the park was going to hit it off. The owner got fed up w/trying to argue that putting profits back into the park was best that he sold his share to the other partners which we know, ruined the park because the partners involved didn't know how to mangae it. I went there back in '82 I think. I don't remember HALF the stuff I saw in the pix posted at various sites. I was 10 but my parents wouldn't allow us to ride rides, only got to ride 3. Stupid selfish parents. It took like 4 hrs to get there, we only stayed a couple of hrs. then we had to leave so I don't really remember much of anything. My sister was the only one who had a camera, I wasn't allowed to have one & my mom left hers home so we really don't have any pix either. I really feel deprived now because I can't go back there. If I were mega rich, I'd buy the place & reopen it. I'm sure a lot of ppl wud.

When I visited Dogpatch in the early 80's, I remember walking across a swinging bridge over a gorge. There were paddle boats or some sort of boats in the water at the bottom of the gorge. The bridge was made of metal chains, with wood planks and would shake when walking across it. Is it still there, and does anybody have any pics?

Hey! Funny this topic came up. I was working on making a historical documentary of the place last Saturday. The place IS posted and the guys live on the grounds and will call the cops on trespassers. I got permission from them before I went. They stressed to me how many snakes there are there. They told me their uncles own the place and they are there cleaning it up and trying to get it back up and running, or at least partially. They said their main project right now is to get the trout farm back up and running. I had some video of the place, but that was the day I got my camcorder stolen only about an hour later. I did manage to take a few still photos of the place. I'll put them on my website and post a link later. Here's a couple for now though.

Oh, also, I have an old video of dogpatch on my website. www.rightanglepro.com . Go to "media".

Yup, it's still there. There's a picture of it in the Gallery under Dogpatch. It's rotten as hell now, though. I walked across it once, but I wouldn't do it again.

I walked across it when I was a kid, and it scared me badly enough, so I can only imagine what it's like now. I'm actually surprised that it's still there.
