My grandmother spent almost a year in the sanitorium on 2 different occassions back in the 40's when TB was running rampant in Oklahoma. She said that there was a steady stream of hearses backed up to the door because so many people were dying every day. I've never had the chance to see the place in person but I have seen photo's that they (my grandparents) took of it and it looks pretty much the same as the photo's on this site do. Not much has changed. It looked spooky back then and it looks spooky now.

I spoke with the owner today that can give or not give permission. It is not accessible - they have security there regularly and it is Federally owned.

Did some posts in this thread disappear?

Anyway, every time that I've seen the buildings, I never saw any security and nobody bothered me when I took pictures. In fact I don't remember seeing anybody. The buildings, especially the 'big' one, are a fair distance from the main part of the colony.

Then again, I haven't been there in several years, so things might have changed.

Head west on hwy 1/63 from downtown Talihina. After a mile or two, turn right onto highway 63A. The road will split, take the right hand fork. It's up on a hill to the left, you can't miss it.

Just be careful. I have spoken with the owners and they are happy to show people around, but they don't take lightly to trespassing. They have had a lot of trouble with vandalism. We are actually working with them to debunk the stories of hauntings and stuff to maybe help keep people away.

I'd love to hear what you've found out.

(I know this is old)

I have not been there. It looks amazing. A great location for a film or photo shoot.

I just found this site. I've been trying to get a tour of the TB building for nearly a year myself. Did anyone get permission yet?
