Bull frog mine at Joplin

Post by gimpface »

Does anyone know if you can visit this mine anymore? My wife wanted to check it out (she's been there in the past, but it was closed/flooded). Apparently, it used to be open to visit. Any info about this would be appreciated.

I think its still flooded.
Here's what I found:
Bullfrog Mine, Joplin Field, Tri-State District, jasper Co., Missouri, USA
Ancient lead-zinc mine, started in 1903 and worked from an open cut since 1909. The pit is now flooded. Located NW of Joplin.

There are a lot of flooded mine shafts here in Joplin. If you ever need to get rid of a body...

I usually eat my victims... but not in a creepy Jeffery Dahmer sort of way. I generally just dip the whole corpse in fondu of some sort and serve it at dinner parties. Not my dinner parties, mind you. Let's just say that Chateu of the Lake needs to improve security a wee bit...

My friend used to live behind Bull Frog mine, apparently in the last couple of years it has became a dump of railroad ties and such. But the directions are Traveling North on Schifferdecker Turn W on B St when you come to a dead end park, and walk to the North End.

Man that area is just full of asbestos, lead and who-knows-what-else. Several areas northeast of there are fenced off due to asbestos contamination.
