We actually had legal permission to be at these places.
First off is a coal mine that I never did get the name to. We could only look at the adits from the top of the pit. The Quonset hut looking structures are actually the entrances.
This mine has been shut down and is in a maintained status. The engineer was pretty cool I thought for showing us this on what is probably his day off. We did sign a liability release.
Then we got to visit a fluorspar mine. It was closed in the mid 90's and the shaft is sealed. They said it was about 1000' deep. I was impressed by the head frame. While others were looking in the waste piles for fluorspar I was checking out the machinery.
