| So I'm headed out there with a friend in May. I'm not going to have unlimited amounts of time on the trip, but I was wondering if there was anything out that way that anyone here considers a must-see? Exploration-wise or just plain cool stuff. |

I was going to suggest the same thing. Although I haven't seen him on in a while. His name is Asyntactic. _________________ “I investigate things to complete my knowledge, my complete knowledge makes my thoughts sincere, my thoughts being sincere; my heart is pure.”

If you go to that "Factory Ham", try to get on the tugboat/crane barge that's parked just offshore. Bring a towel and take the dodgy hobo pallet raft, or BYO inflatable boat I was going to swim out to it when I was there with some people, but they said they wouldn't let me back in the car if I smelled like the river.
Atomic Nick (AKA Rinker's Revenge, the guy with the Kool-Aid man avatar image) is out there right now. He's originally from Minneapolis and is pretty hardcore, you should get ahold of him if you want to see some stuff. I also know Noah Vale (formerly from Texas) and Eidolon (formerly from Alaska), who both do stuff around there, I think they're on UER a lot.
There's an abandoned mental hostpital or something that's supposed to be good, it's in the middle of the state somewhere. Also Portland is building this bigass sewer project but so far no one's figured out how to get into it. All their sewer maps are online on a GIS/Google Earth system (portlandmaps.com), so maybe you can find a sweet drain. |

Sea Lion Caves is a tourist attraction on the Oregon Coast 11 miles north of Florence, Oregon, United States. It is home to the only year-round colony of Steller's Sea Lions in North America. Visitors can take an elevator underground to view the cave claiming to be the world's largest sea cave.
Formation of the cavern began about 25 million years ago. It now soars to the height of a 12- story building and stretches the length of a football field. Care is taken not to disturb the natural habitat of the wild animals that dwell here. Sea lions gather in this natural amphitheater, usually during fall and winter. In spring and summer, they breed and have their young on rock ledges just outside the cave. The caves are also a major nesting ground for several species of birds, including Pigeon Guillemot, Brandt's Cormorant, and Western Gull. |
