Post by pinkspider »

mallettown is a old ghost town extablished in 1841.. there are only a few buildings left and a smattering of active houses. we had a resident ask us what we were doing and tell us that next time we needed to ask permission.. but we got some neat pics tho :D

Find any mallets?
More online investigation than onsite exploration these days.

That's pretty amazing. Do you know how long the town has been abandoned?

You got one fact wrong.
Its not springfield road that goes to Mallettown. Springfield Road goes to Springfield.
Heres a picture of the old bridge over the Cadron Creek on Springfield Road.

Image
Anyone that likes old bridges, the bridge 150 yards south of the current concrete bridge on Springfield Road.

Before Little Rock was important people would come from Springfield Ar to Augusta, thus the Springfield Road, it was also the Stage Coach route of the day. Its history is all but unknown today. I live not far from the road. I got the history from a man thats dead now, he was a B29 crewman in WWII.
Another road thats lost to time I'd like to find, is the old Clinton Road. Part of it travels through Camp Robinson and it use to travel up through Alread before coming to Clinton.

From Bono you go over the hill to Mallettown Road. Theres still lots of people living around there.

You found this one?
Image
Theres a cool bluff just past it, might be a few shallow caves in it. I didn't get a picture of the caves cause the batteries died in my digital camera. Yea do my exploring on an old XT550

This bridge still carries dump trucks. I'll have to look through my notes to find the road its on. Seems like it was Freddy Road, go south of Solgohatchie (spelling) and trun right, to Freddy Bridge Road.
