Young Brothers Massacre

Post by BIG_T »

just wondering if anyone has ever heard of it. my history teacher in high school told us about it and i thought it was pretty interesting to know that one of the biggest massacres in the US happened here in the ozarks.

here is the link my teacher made that tells the story about it.

I don't have time to read the link, but if you're talking about the Brookline Massacre, there are some solid books out on it and they're filming/have filmed a movie on the incident.

There are some terrific books on the subject, as ivecomeasiam mentioned. My favorite is found HERE. The house still stands, off Haseltine Road, but the Grove of trees behind which the lawmen took cover are gone. The seven lawmen are listed on a memorial outside the police station.

Very cool site, thanks for posting it. I'd seen the memorial but never read a detailed history of what happen.

One of my personal favorites is the Barker Gang. They didn't do much more than petty theft and cause some trouble around here, they lived in Ozark for a while, but when they left town when the boys got older...that's when the fun stuff happened.

You should check out the story of Ma Barker and her sons, it's pretty cool.

I believe that's the group that Disney pattered the Beagle Boy's after.
