Topeka has Menninger's and Topeka State Hospital.

Independence MO has 2 closed regular hospitals but those both closed fairly recently. Still seems to be some activity tho neglect is starting to show (weeds, high grass, etc.)

I once got to see Lakeland Hospital here in Springfield. Unfortunately I was a patient there at the time and exploration of the facility was forbidden. They asked me these really funny questions about life and shit too.

I heard a rumor that St. Josephs Hospital in Kirkwood was closing once St. Clare hospital in Fenton opens. Does anyone know if this is true?

There's a sanitorium in Savannah, MO that was turned into eventually a retirement home for nuns, but was closed down a few years back. The building is now up for sale.

google street view link:

there's also remnants of the st. joe savannah interurban line there and just south of there as well.

I think 2 of these places have been torn down and/or rebuilt into condos recently and I was looking for any info as some of these places are close to kansas city and St. louis so the odds of them not being explored and documented are nill. Urban explorers tend to hord info but I was going to share.

1. Haunted insane asylum in florisant. Many people have reported hearing music and seeing glowing red orbs floating around inside the place.

2. Insane asylum near waynesville.

3. Old freeman hospital in joplin.

4. abandoned mental asylum in boynton.

5. Old fellows insane asylum in liberty. This place is supposed to be high on the freaky meter.

6. Insane asylum in ray town. This place may be torn down but I think only part of it was.

7. St. Louis old city hospital. I am pretty sure this place is no more.
I just want to say thank you for the information you have been shared with me. I am always hoping that this will not be the last post that I could be read written by you.

It's small and fairly new but there's an abandoned hospital over near Hwy 60 and Hwy 5 near Mansfield. Warning, there's a newer small clinic in front of it (not connected to the hospital building) that is active.

There's construction noticable from the highway on the Odd Fellows Home in Liberty. Looks like the roof is being replaced.

Also heard that they now have hidden camera surveillance on the Odd Fellows property and the Liberty Police have recorded over 100 arrests for trespassing already this summer. Probably not a good idea to go on the property at this point.

I think it's because of the bird shit that's in the upper floors... you're breath that stuff in and you can get sick... it's not a definate, but it's a possibility.
