That should be the old Kuhlman Die Casting Plant. Should not be much left after being shut down for about 25 yrs. I am sure they pollluted the Blue River next to it. Never did see any glowing fish. Lot's of old indian stuff in that river valley. I have stuff dating back to Plains/Woodland Indians about 400-800-AD and a Clovis piece i found about 1/2 mile from there.

I didn't know there was *anything* abandoned in Overland Park. Usually huge amounts of moolah in the area mean things get torn down quickly.

That location is not in the city of Overland Park as far as i know. I think the city limit is 159th st. The location is actually the old community of Rudell. On map quest they call it Redell. Used to be the big casting plant building was all that was left and some houses. The building was right next to the Blue River. I think a canoe or small zodiac type will get you there or hell if it is warm just wade the river when it is normal level. Might get over your head in a few places but very few places and you could stay along one shallow edge. Not really worth the trip to me.

Found this forum today after researching the factory I explored last night. I know this is an old post but I wanted to share a few of the pictures I took while exploring.

Oooo, I like the time lapse burning steel wool pics!

And welcome to the forum.

I went there last night with a friend, the place had 2 other groups in it. One group frequented the area and said it was busier than usual. It's a neat place, not much to find but it would be good for paintball. The other groups were local teens, who also told us about the best way to get there. I've attached a picture of where to park (old church parking lot, now a disk golf field) and the path to follow to get there. It's not amazing, but it is a fun place to hang out if you're nearby.
