I'm confused on what they do there. What kind of a business was this? _________________ "Now, get your hand back on your penis and resume jerking." -Fiti |

They turned coal into coke. They recieved it by river and rail, heated it white-hot but deprived it of oxygen so it didn't combust, and then shipped it back out.
It was also a coal gasification plant. |

That's really cool! Where in the heck did you find that? Carondelet is one of my favorite spots. _________________ You know you wanna look:

I did a Google for "Carondelet Coke" and it came up at like page 3.
Carondelet is one of my favorites, too. Did you ever climb into the partially bricked-off tunnels that carry the smoke from the burners to the smokestack? They're really cool. They're only a little taller and wider than a person and they end merging together at a large, unfortunatly rusted shut, damper. Someday we're going to go back with a big wrench and get some leverage on that thing and open the dampers. For some strange reason I have this obsession with being the bottom of an old brick smokestack.
I also like the boilers, coal hoppers below the roof, the river structure, and the generators. I love old equipment.
But if you like old equipment, you've GOT to see Armour.
How bitch is that? How many peices of modern equipment are built like that...with real gold leaf pinstriping no less!?! |
