That is a very good question. Are there any actual caves in Oklahoma? There is Robbers Cave near Wilburton, but it is more like a large indention in the rock. There is susposed to be a cave called Belle Starr Cave, but I don't know if it exists. It is supossed to be near Belle's grave in Porum. Anything around that I've ever seen that was called a cave was just an indention in the rocks.

Alabaster Caverns is a huge area of caves in Oklahoma. Near Woodward.

Is Alabaster Caverns a commercial cave? I figure that there would be some kind of caves, mines or sinkholes in OK. If you really think about it old cowboys, outlaws, and indians had to have someplace to hide. Where did Jesse James or Billy the Kid hide from the law and where did they hide all the items they stole?

Jesse James and Belle Starr were supposed to have hidden in Robbers Cave at Wilburton. I don't know much of anything about Alabaster Caverns, though I think it is a commercial cave.

I also think a lot of the caves in Oklahoma have been gated and are under some sort of protected status because of the bats that live in them. I don't know where they are, but there are like 22 of them that are gated in Eastern Oklahoma.

If you mean commercial as in tourist attraction, then yeah, I guess. But they will also let people camp in them overnight, so you could go without a guide. Commercial or not, they are huge and they are really cool.

They will let you camp inside the cave? Cool. How much do they charge for that?

I don't know anything specific, but Oklahoma has coal mines, which tend to go underground more than the mines around here.

There are a few big abandoned coal mines near red oak. One even still had a big walking dragline and some other equipment sitting there on the south side of the road heading east out of town. Then down by atoka? there were a bunch of big mines that are fun to run around in.

At one time there was a group mapping all the gypsum caves in Western OK (or was it Kansas?). Alabaster is a gypsum cave although I've never toured it.
