So... I'm just not happy with UO. I mean, everything works and all, but... I'm just not happy with it. That's part of the reason I haven't updated anything in a long time.
It just seems so cluttered. Everything's connected, but from the main page nothing is really easy and simple to find. Plus, the PHP stuff, while extremely cool and fun to work with, really plays hell with the search engines that are trying to index us.
But here's the biggest motivation for me:
I've been looking at some of the other Springfield/Ozarks sites for haunted stuff or UE stuff, and... Well, basically they're chock full of bullshit information. And something I've really tried to do around here is make sure the information provided about sites is accurate. So, I'd really like to make the site better so that UO can be THE authority on interesting sites in the Ozarks.
Basically, what I'm thinking of doing is this... I'm thinking of going back to a very simple HTML based site (very similar to White Rabbit's old site), with all the locations on the main page when you go to UO. The forum and Gallery would still be around, but they wouldn't be as intrusive as they are now.
Any suggestions/comments?

I think the way Rabbit had it was pretty user friendly, I Like the look of the site now but anything to make it easier has got to be good

Hmm.. I really do like having the cool board and all, but having a simple page like WRabbit's old one would be cool. You know, I really thought there'd be a lot more UEer's posting on the board... (Of course, I can't say I've been to active either) Maybe just having a normal page will actually pull more visitors to the board?
Oh yeah, where are these other Springfield/Ozark UE sites? Aside from this site, there isn't jack.
But yeah, when you add locations and such, I'd be sure to make them as vague as possible so you don't end up in the same mess as Rabbit.
(Any idea's for an overall theme?)

something else you can do is make your main page a html, or shtml doc, throw a google advertisement bar on it, and manipulate it so you get a lot more hits from google, msnbot, etc. Then just add a link to his forum, so you dont have to really do that much work.

I like White Rabbit's old html site but i never took part in the forums but i did enjoy it.
So i say go for it great idea.
