Dear anyone who frequents the Jordan Creek Tunnel:
If you open the manholes in the floor of the tunnel (which lead to a sanitary sewer that runs somewhat parallel to the JC tunnel), SHUT THE FUCKING MANHOLES BACK WHEN YOU'RE DONE.
All we need is some dumbass kid falling into one of those open shafts after a heavy rain and getting sucked to his death in a river of shit and piss. That'd be SUPER.
Not to mention, debris gets sucked down into the sanitary sewer, backs it up, and suddenly the Jordan Creek is a bacteria farm again.
Just shut the fucking manholes after you satisfy your curiosity about what's down there, okay?

I know that from time-to-time the city goes down there and opens the manholes to divert the flow INTO the sanitary sewers and flush the system out. I've gone a few rounds with the Watershed comittee about that because the covers are often left off for WEEKS on end with no regard for the possibility of it back flushing into the creek...

I helped some bums close that one once. It had been left open, as it often is, and they were concerned that someone would fall in.
It also occurs to me that I haven't been in the JC in a very, very long time.

| I went in once when Hotel of Terror was in full swing. Some vaguely official guy with a shoulder radio watched me go in and started talking into it, I'm guessing about me. I just used another entrance and was fine. He probably wasn't a cop though, I'm guessing they would be more worried about it. |

That would be the owner of the hotel. He does not care if people go in there, and I have heard from someone on here that he ever told some people having some kind of party to leave because the cops were on their way.

biggest issue with going down there around this time of year is all the emo stragglers who hang out around the HOT and pretend that they're badasses...

I wouldn't worry about it. The first time I went to the JC was right after meeting Lou Ferigno at the HOT. It's dark down there, and people are usually focused on all the commotion outside the hotel, not what's going on in the ditch next door.
