Guess I need to learn how to get around motion detectors then.seems a bit excessive for an abandoned hospital.have they had a lot of trouble there?

I had step kids there I was going to ask about it but they left the area and we haven't heard from them in a while.

We made a trip here the weekend before Halloween 2008. Very interesting buildings. I was surprised at how well the inside the Biddle building looked when we peered through the windows. Got some cool pics as well.

There is a chain link fence around the building now. Strong rumors that demo will be starting soon now that the property is owned by the school district. Your picture of the back door - the white doors are open but there is a garage-style door on the other side that is locked. One could, if they were skinny, slip right in that narrow window, or reach in enough to maybe unlock the garage. I saw this in March and also one of the side doors was unlocked and just swung open. I looked around for a bit, when I left I pulled the door shut and it locked, sorry bout that.

When we went back to Topeka State Hospital yesterday, it was such a sad sight. I was not prepared for what I saw. We found the cemetery...very sad. And the state of disrepair that the Center Building is in...especially compared to how we found it back in October. As Esoteric had said, there is a fence around the entire Center Building now. The sign by the front doors says "Watch for falling debris" or something like that. The lawn had been mowed up to the fence, but next to the building the weeds were 2'-3' tall...and on the building itself...a lot more broken windows and hanging boards and guttering. This will probably be the last time we see it. :( We took a few pics, but did't wander around a lot...we saw a police car driving around the property...he finally left, but didn't feel like hanging around a lot in case he came back.

The steam tunnel entrances have all been bolted down but there's one large steel door covering a steam tunnel entrance. It's kinda right in the middle of the back field behind center. There's a hole smashed in it (it was like this 3 years ago too). It's about a 12 foot drop, no ladder. You are right the place is in sad shape now.
