Carthage underground Jul 11 2018
I'm new to underground Ozarks this is my first post. A while back I found an artical about an abandoned mine in Carthage Missouri. I located where it was on google maps useing the clues in the artical and comments. Me and a two friends made a trip to carthage today to check it out (07/11/2018). I thought I would make an update on it. It was not hard to access. Some one recently has made trails wide enough for a truck to drive though. Although they where not well traveled. The main entrance was clear of debris. The second level was full of water to the ceiling. I found that kinda of odd because of the lack of rain lately. Although this is my first time in the mine. We only found two access to the second level one was a road the other you would have to climb down a rusty ladder through a tube. It was pretty cool. That place is huge. I will add photos later.

Looking forward to your photos! I've always meant to get to Carthage, but never got around to it before I moved out of Missouri.

New to the forums too! Do you mind sharing some information on getting to the mine via personal message? Thanks!

Welcome to the forums both of you!
More online investigation than onsite exploration these days.

Alright here are the pictures I took of the Carthage marble mine. My phone didn't do a vary good job in the low light levels. I plan to go back to Carthage soon to better document the mine. I just purchased a 5000 lumen flashlight so hopefully I can take better pictures. Ill also bring my GoPro and take some long exposer shots. I will also be bring ropes and a harness so we can explore the ladder entrance into the second level.

Those photos are a lot better than I would have expected from a cell phone.
