Lebanon, MO

Post by BagHead727 »

Was passing through Lebanon today and noticed this big building. Didn't have time to check it out but might have to make a return trip down that way. Someone want to do some research and find out what it is

Possibly related to MSU, maybe their defunct Lebanon campus?

Robert Plaster had a house (corporate facility) on Table Rock....a big glass house just east of Kimberling City.

He also was going to build The Village at Table Rock.

I grew up in Lebanon. That's the old Empire Gas building.

This is the connection to the Plaster family:
Steve Plaster- Brother Steve has become a successful businessman through the combined efforts of he and his father Robert W. Plaster who is the owner and CEO of Empire Gas in the U.S. and also Evergreen Investments LLC, a Multi Million dollar corporation. Currently Steve is the CEO and President of the Robert W. Plaster Trust Fund and is a large contributer to local politics and local charities. The stadium in which the Missouri State Univ. Bears play, is named the Plaster Sports Complex. The Plaster family has been so successful in business, they have been named to the top 25 wealthiest family list for the Midwest. Steve Plaster is a Multi Millionaire and his business continues to flourish throughout Mo. Steve still resides in Lebanon.

The Lowe's behind it was built sometime after 2000 (after I'd moved away from the town). The Walmart used to be across the street in the smaller box store attached to the minimall. Before that (back in the early to mid-80s the Walmart was in this building)

The Empire Gas building was there before all that retail was built.

In the mid-90s a tornado touched down and followed Bland rd. It took out some boats at the plant, a movie rental place that used to be here, and some houses to the east.

All of these black things are some sort of media storage devices.. I don't even know what they are, but there were a ton of them. Maybe I'm showing my age here. There were a bunch of floppy disks as well

Yeah... it's gone way downhill since I saw the building last.

That media storage could be magnetic tape.

Another random interesting fact of Lebanon:

When I was little all the kids went to elementary school on their side of town and then came together for Jr High and Sr High, but I guess they were having issues with kids and parents thinking their school was better/higher class than the others and needed more funding then the other schools. So while I was in 3rd grade they changed it around. They put all the kindergarten & 1st into the north side. 2nd & 3rd in my school on the south side, 4th & 5th in the east side, 6th in the west side (cause it was a smaller school). So I actually went to 3 different grade schools (only missing out on the north side school).

The Plasters still live in the area. Real interesting family history. Supposedly old man Plaster left a lot of his fortune to his family but he makes them come back every X amount of years and they have to watch a pre-recorded video with old man Plaster's ideas of what the family should be doing. If they're not doing that, they don't get any more money.
