I know every year this comes up and everyone recounts their 9/11 story and the shit gets replayed on TV non stop..

But if you watch one thing about 9/11 this year, I highly recommend this if you haven't seen it yet. Rather than another cheesy/patriotic film, this gives an incredibly interesting first person perspective.

Jules and Gédéon Naudet started filming the FDNY months prior to 9/11, filming a documentary that was to follow the story of a guy going through the training and becoming a firefighter. They ended up with the most complete account of the events on the ground that day.

The Tribe That Time Forgot

Randomly watched this on netflix recently and found it to be pretty interesting.

Around the early part of the 20th century, a bunch of assholes associated with various large companies, like the rubber industry, went into the Amazon rainforest and enslaved or killed most of the native population who were still there living naked in the woods and probably being all happy and shit. They had no previous contact with the outside world. As it turns out, a few various groups from the original tribes managed to hide deep in the jungle and there they have survived all on their own with no contact with modern civilization. The elders taught the young whippersnappers to fear and distrust the outsiders. But now their disobedient bastards are going out on their own and having encounters with civilization. Some encounters have been peaceful but a lot haven't. To make matters more difficult, no-one is allowed to contact them unless they contacted you first.

So there are still people out in the wilderness who have no concept of modern civilization and who are evidently still thriving on their own. There are still primordial Humans living out there. Pretty cool, I think.

One thing that I found surprising was the FIRST article of clothing they universally decided was most important. The first evolution of clothing for Humanity version 1.0 is not footwear or any such comfort item. The very first, and only, article of clothing which primordial man decided was worth implementing was the Penis Belt. This Jimmy Strap serves no other function than to stretch their Johnson up to their stomach area to keep it from getting tangled on stuff or tripping over it. The Wang De-Tangler is/was the first evolution of clothing and is the only thing they wore until they discovered what people wore in the nearest village which they encountered. Penis belts.
