Celebration City
I was talking with a few buddies of mine and the Idea of exploring the abandoned Celebration City came up. Does anyone know if there are security guards or if it's just trespassing to go over there

Re: Celebration City
I'm having trouble finding the threads and the ones I've found are pretty old. Is there a good way in and out to get around security if we were to do it later at night?
And then it blew up and it was pretty freaking awesome!!

Re: Celebration City
Update on Celebration City... today the wooden roller coaster was demolished, which is sad. But there's a video, which is cool.

Re: Celebration City
That looks like a backwoods country demo, like they roped the thing to a pickup and "gunned it" a few times.
More online investigation than onsite exploration these days.

RE: Celebration City
Tis a shame. I enjoyed penetrating it.
And yeah the way they pulled the coaster down seems kind of.. unnecessary. You start out with a fairly sturdy upright coaster that could probably be dismantled pretty cleanly and efficiently. But instead, you pull the thing over so you now have a giant fucking Jenga tower mess scattered all over the place which is now neither stable nor a safe working environment. Brilliant.
Also, they only got 5 years out of it. 5 years. And you have to consider it was closed for much of each year during winter and whatnot. What a colossal waste.

Re: Celebration City
I still dont understand WHY
#1 Why they built it that close to Silver Dollar City
#2 Why It only lasted as long as it did
#3 Why they did not try to do something else with the park sell it or something
#4 Sure seems to be a HUGE waste maybe a tax write off???
I DONT UNDERSTAND somebody help me please

Re: Celebration City
that is probably why they never cared much about CC. they're making too much from SDC to care?
Re: Celebration City
That lady was confused, they keep the lights on all the buildings constantly, granted you can only see them well after dark. They have a lighting ceremony for the big tree at a certain time at night. But the rest of the lights are always on. And they have 2-3 people who walk around replacing light bulbs keeping them all lit. I worked on the light bulb crew about 10 years ago. It takes forever to put them all up, but it's a fairly fun job as far as outdoor manual work goes.ropingk wrote:PS I was going to go to Silver DOllar City and See the lights and the CHristmas Prade

And yes ticket prices are outrageous. I usually try to get free tix from family friends when I go there. Employees get 2 free tickets every month that they can give to family or friends (who don't work there, cause employees get in for free). The free tix have some black out dates, but are good for most days.

RE: Celebration City
Update @ Celebration City;
Some grass is being mowed, no other maintenance appears to be kept up on.
They do have lights on in the main buildings, and motion detecting lights on the porches/near the doors. They have signage advertising security cameras, but I didn't see any. The security guards either have camera's or are alerted when & where motion detecting lights come on. At least one security guard with a vehicle.
