Mine

Post by radguy »

After reading Voices of Moccasin Creek again I headed out and spent some time in the area. This is one of the mines mentioned in the book. Folklore is they were looking for or actually mining some silver.

Don't know for sure if it is one of the Brewer-Robin prospect. It is just north east of Long Pool. I know on the hill above Grimmit Springs there are signs of mining which is just south Long Pool.

The mine north east of long pool recreation area, is it right by the over look for the dover ghost lights? I know next to the parking lot for the ghost lights a road goes down the cliffs and into the valley and dead ends. Its called Newton knob rd on google earth. I haven't wandered down it yet, saving it for the next trip.

Newton Knob road is not there. It shows up on lots of maps and on google earth but its not there. Hiked the bluff looking for it. The area on the left side of the road at the next curve past the lights is showing signs of slippage. Makes a neat looking fault line.
