Feb Deep cave exploration.

Post by xpoop13x »

Hi
I am wanting to do a several days/nites/camping excursion into cave systems that are largely unexplored, last forever, and deep into the unknown. Is anyone down to do this? you must have time. I need some information on cave systems that are said to be expansive, closed off etc?
Let me know. thanks! MDM 8)

Yea, no homo here. I want to really see if there are systems that go on for miles and across state lines. I'm serious about this.

I've heard of a lot of caves in this area that are said to go on for miles and come up in strange places. That being said, only Blowing Cave is worth a two day trip from what I hear. Caves here just aren't that extensive.

Where are these caves? Are they mapped? I seriously want to explore the unknown and see where it goes. Strange places and limitless caves sound good to me:)

What areas are you looking to explore around? In Missouri, the most extensive you're going to get is Crevice cave, which last I heard from some of the people mapping it out had 35 miles of mapped passage, and several entrances. At last discussion, they were trying to figure out if it connected via sump to another cave, which would push total length to 40 miles. However, it stays within the state as it's bounded by the Mississippi River.

A lot of the caves are interconnected in Perry county, so they are longer and plentiful, but they also connect to sinkholes and stuff so you dont want to be in them if there's any precipitation in the forecast. But that's where you'll find the majority of Missouri's caves 10-15 miles and longer.

I live very close to Blowing Cave. There are a lot of myths and legends surrounding it and tne cave system is yet to be fully mapped. The Little Rock Grotto has done a lot with maping the cave. An overnight expedition thinks they found the end of the cave, but they didn't map it and it's difficult to say if they found the end of it or not. I know it goes back at least a few miles and is a fun trip. I personally went on a small five hour adventure into the cave and it was one of the greatest experiences of my life. I didn't even go a fourth of the way into it either. If you want to explore a partially unmapped cave, this is a good place to start.

The Blowing Cave that I'm talking about isn't the one that's in Browsur's wikipedia link. The one that I am talking about is in Cushman, Arkansas.

I'm interested in this excursion as well. Let me know!

Digital Ninja, I qualify with all of your listed qualifications and also think this would be a lot of fun.

I have a lot of camping supplies, a 10 person tent and 3 person tent if needed.
