MacArthur Bridge
Re: MacArthur Bridge
Did you have to get around that chainlink gate on the overpass to get out there, or do they not keep it locked any more?
More online investigation than onsite exploration these days.

Re: MacArthur Bridge
Yeah, we had to step over some razor wire between the fence and the bridge cables on the side, but it wasn't very difficult. I guess there was one other fence to get through at the beginning but that wasn't hard to get around either.

Knowing you, you went further out than this didn't you?PANIC! on the Titanic wrote:

Re: MacArthur Bridge
We both we out further actually. Although I stopped short of the trusses because it was getting ridiculous with the height and sharp rusty metal and single I-beam balancing acts and all. I said fuck that noise and we turned back. I figured the whole bridge was like that.

This from the man who has taken up climbing things that shan't be named in the general public?!? I can't believe it!PANIC! on the Titanic wrote: Although I stopped short of the trusses because it was getting ridiculous with the height and sharp rusty metal and single I-beam balancing acts and all. Re: MacArthur Bridge
I blame mindwaave
Re: MacArthur Bridge
We both did want to get out to the big arch trusses, but there was just a single beam continuing out there and it would have really, really sucked. Why don't you head out there Nic?

Re: MacArthur Bridge
Pfft, everyone knows why I wouldn't, cause I'm a big scaredy cat when it comes to any kind of heights/climbing. But we're talking about "Mr. Balls of Steel" himself, Panic, here.

Re: MacArthur Bridge
I may have balls but I also have a brain. And like WR, impulse control is not my strong point. However, I wasn't going to leave mindwaave behind and wander off on a half-mile excursion on shitty I beams. My brain actually kicked in and said 'don't be a moron.' That hasn't happened much before.Nicotti wrote: But we're talking about "Mr. Balls of Steel" himself, Panic, here.
Re: MacArthur Bridge
I'd think your brain would say, "At least this time I have someone who knows where I am and can get help if I get stuck, as opposed to the shit I climb by myself."
