The YMCA in St. Louis? A couple years ago you could get in via the rotting roof. There was a full tank of helium (one of the big ones) that I still lust after... couldn't figure out how to steal the fucker though.

No, the YMCA in Alton. The YMCA in StL was renovated recently. I'd been meaning to check it out, but it's probably no longer do-able...

The gay pride train across the street was even more homoerotic (look closely for Wackodood at the front)

Yeah, that was the YMCA we did, near there... I think? It's been a few years.

All we did in Alton was the Piaza mine and the abandoned boats across the road.

So apparently that dumb bitch "friend" of mine never left her house except to go to the bar. She knows nothing about cool shit in Alton. How is that even possible???

Most people these days aren't into leaving their houses, not when there's HDTV and XBOX to do...

Those people need to be bitch slapped. God knows I spend too much time on the internet but it's not ALL I do. I spend even more time hiking and caving. I talk to friends face to face, not just via text or email. I have a life and I manage to track down a little adventure from time to time. More adventure would be great but I take what I can get. I'm trying to raise my kids the same way and hope I can defeat electronics in the battle for their minds and bodies. I'm winning so far but they're still young.

In a fit of unbelievable hypocrisy, I just realized I've been exchanging Facebook wall messages with my husband. He's sitting on the couch next to me  .

What was that I said about battling electronics again? Uh, yeah. I only meant that for the kids. Yeah, that's it.

Figured I'd bump an old thread. These pictures were taken near Alton Steel. These buildings have been since torn down. I believe one of the buildings was a military museum of some sort.

Drove by there today on my way home. Looks very closed, but I didn't see any easy way in.

Sublunar and I were there a while ago and didn't find a way in, as I recall.
